Is hollywood going backwards? I have seen lot of bollywood movies copied or just for the namesake inspired by hollywood movies, but at the same time there are lot of awesome movies with originality and freshness. Bollywood is packed with great talent, thus when i mentioned that bollywood movies inspired by hollywood movies, was only because of some stupid people there.
A good story makes a good movies not how much money is spent over it. In 2007 i saw a movie Bheja Fry and was totally stunned with the originality and its humor. I was total time pass and i was happy after i watched it. It is a movie about some men who all meet any any particular day of the week and everyone comes with their “stupid” guest to make fun of them. Vinay Pathak totally nailed the performance and was appreciated by all the critice. Recently i saw “Dinner for Schmucks” and because i love Steve Carell i had to see the movie. But after i saw the movie i was very disappointed with the movie as a whole. Steve Carell was usually funny, but it was as if i was watching a bad version of Bheja Fry.
Both Bheja Fry and Dinner for Schmucks are based on French play by Francis Veber The Dinner Game (Le dner de cons), however Bheja Fry wins in the making and the humor. One thing where Dinner for Schmucks goes a step ahead is that it has the schnucks dinner which was not in Bheja Fry but again not was not exciting at all.
Vinay Pathak’s quirky role is being played by funny man Steve Carell, who spends his free time making detailed dioramas with dead mice. It’s similar to the scrap book which Vinay Pathak used to carry with him every where.
The character of Sarika, Rajat Kapoor’s wife, is being played by Stephanie Szostak. Milind Soman’s role of Sarika’s lover is being essayed by Jemaine Clement, a weird but good looking self-obsessed artist, who paints himself in most of his paintings.
I think Bheja Fry was probably better in terms of story, script and sheer likeability than this adaptation.

Very true, but since Bheja Fry was orginally ‘inspired’ by another movie, I think it is OK if they remade it again in Hollywood. I mean for all these years we did lift of their work so if they do it a few times what’s the big deal? And Dinner for Schmucks would have been more likeable if we hadn’t seen Bheja Fry before that, so its just bad timing thats all…all in all, just give a good unbiased review of things instead of just giving your own opinion..grow up.
