Writing a chat application for social networks

Some time ago i was thinking to write a chat application for social networks, that is single chat application for all the social networks using which an orkut user can chat with a facebook user or ning or hi5, similarly a facebook/hi5/ning user can chat with any other social network.

This strikes me when google released there opensocial and we start writing the chat application for the social networks and guess what, we completed the chat application basic structure in just 1 week of release of opensocial and we deployed the applicaiton in orkut sandbox with name Orkut Global chat, then we build another versions of same app for Facebook, Ning and Hi5. Tested the application and wow now we can chat across the networks. As all major platforms were supporting opensocial except Facebook so we just required to write another application for facebook. then we renamed the application with name “Universal Chat”.

But i dont know the reason why orkut keep on denying my request to submit the application for general users, every time they give some weird reason and its already 2 years they have not approved the applicaiton. however facebook approved the application and it is still running in facebook. but some how we stoped maintaining the application and it is past now. Now I am planning to re design this application.

So what is this application? It is the most simple web app you have ever seen, yes.

What you require is one server, one web service, where u will post the chat messages from each social network and client that will fetch the messages from this web service. DONE.

if u want to maintain loging of who logs in, who logs out, you can use timer service if on shared server.

Wait for another one month, my friend has started working on this application.
